The campaign to ban conversion therapy, rightly aimed at halting abusive attempts to change sexual orientation, has veered into dangerous territory. Proposals to include so-called "transgender identities" in these bans, such as the UK’s planned Conversion Practices Bill, are not only misguided but deeply homophobic.

They perpetuate a harmful delusion that biological sex can be altered, pressuring gay and lesbian youth into medicalised transitions to erase their same-sex attraction. This echoes Iran’s horrific policy, where gay individuals face a brutal choice: undergo sex reassignment surgery or be executed.

Both the UK’s trans-inclusive bans and Iran’s draconian measures stem from a flawed conflation of sexual orientation with the cult fantasy of "gender identity", a fiction peddled by their cultish groups like Stonewall, the LGBT Foundation, and the broader LGBTQ+ movement.

These bans are a betrayal of gay youth, exposing their homophobic roots and the perilous ideology driving them.
